The Kingston University Big Read Book Club Week 8
This summer Kingston University wants to keep the Kingston community connected, from new students to alumni and everyone in between. We will be hosting our first-ever series of virtual Book Club meetings, centred around the 2020 Big Read Airhead, written by Newsnight host Emily Maitlis. You'll get to see the chapters of Airhead through the eyes of KU experts in weekly virtual talks from 8 July to 16 September 2020 - a chance you won't want to miss.
The eighth Big Read Book Club talk will be focusing on the chapter titled And then they died (p.371).
This week, Dr Nick Foxton will take on the topic of autobiography, explored through the lens of Airhead's introspective concluding chapter about how you write. So how does one translate the ‘self' into writing, and how are such efforts affected by modern celebrity culture? What are the consequences of lowering personal barriers?
Booking closes at 3pm the day prior to the event.
