This summer Kingston University will be hosting our first ever virtual Book Club. During these unique online events, you will be able to hear a wide variety of Kingston staff members talk about how what they do, study or teach relates to specific chapters from Airhead - our 2020 Big Read by Newsnight host Emily Maitlis. These talks will be held weekly from 8 July -16 September 2020. This is a great opportunity to connect our entire Kingston community, those arriving and those already here.

This is the first Big Read Book Club talk, and will be focusing on the chapter titled Introduction: The 2am call (p.1).

This week's talk focuses on journalism and the art of being ready at a moment's notice. Whether or not you aspire to receive ‘the 2am call' to cover breaking news stories, we are all required to think on our feet from time to time. Fiona O'Brien, course leader of MA Journalism will share her experiences and advice for responding in a fast-paced world.

Booking closes at 3pm the day prior to the event.
