It is clear that communication is a vitally important aspect of the modern world. However, effective commination is also vital and making sure one has an understanding of how to speak to policymakers, the media (print, radio and broadcast) is vital. Getting this aspect of our work right is a learned skill and there are some rules to follow to that mean your message gets across in an unambiguous manner. There are phrases to use and phrases to avoid. This presentation will provide information on how the process works, the benefits and potential pitfalls and how to avoid them! We will discuss the process of media interviews and the level of detail required using examples from my own experience.
