Helps you build your Kingston Award
This session will give insight into how to use Archives and Special Collections for your research and teaching.
Archives and Special Collections hold original documentary material which can add a unique perspective to research and teaching. There are hundreds of archives containing millions of documents across the UK, and this session will give advice on how to find the records you need, the types of materials you might come across in an archive, and how to handle and interpret them. It will also introduce you to the University’s own Archives and Special Collections; a wonderfully varied resource for you to explore.
Suitable for: All staff and students.
Special Notes: As you will be visiting our Reading Room and viewing and handling original documents, we ask that no food or drink is brought into the session. Any notes should be made with a pencil or electronic device, and the Archivist will give guidance on any special handling the records might require.
