The Reading Retreat is a free, weekly Shared Reading session led by a trained volunteer. Small groups meet weekly to discuss a piece of writing that is read aloud by the volunteer Reader Leader at the start of the session. Volunteers have been trained by The Reader. The reading may be an article, book extract, short story or poem. There is no reading to do beforehand, so you can just arrive at a session and join in the discussion or listen to others discussing, as you wish. Sessions are free and held weekly but you don't have to attend every week as each session is separate. Everyone is welcome to come along and give it a try! For more information please email libraryvolunteers@kingston.gov.uk or ask in your local library.

The skills you develop by taking part in this activity can be used to build your Kingston Award reflections on Career Zone.  Find out more by watching  our Kingston Award video, visiting our Kingston Award webpages or getting in touch with us.
