Library Champions are student volunteers who act as an important link between students and the library. Volunteering as a library champion will help and support you to: · Improve your academic skills; use a wide range of learning resources to support your academic studies and improve your referencing skills. · Contribute towards designing and/or co-creating an inclusive reading list; provide feedback on the learning resources, suggest new resources and help to design a reading list that is more diverse and inclusive. · Learn about library resources, services, and space; provide feedback, better use the library services and its space. · Network and/or make new friends. · Improve your confidence and self-esteem. · Gain valuable experience to add to your CV; improve your employability skills, namely, digital literacy, initiative, analytical thinking, adaptability, and networking, and improve your cross-cultural communication. · Once signed up, you will receive details of training that you must complete before volunteering as a Library Champion; some of the training can be completed on campus by attending your assigned lessons. You will also be expected to complete some of your training by booking through KUextra; details of training will be provided on signing up. You will be expected to volunteer as a Library Champion for a minimum of 3 hours during the academic year, 2024-2025. Volunteers who upload their log of the activities that they completed and reflected on the competencies will receive an E-certificate of participation. You can also build your Kingston Award reflections on the Career Zone. This is a fun and novel way to gain skills and improve your academic studies, employability skills and your wellbeing at Kingston University. This event is open to all students on the Science Foundation Year Biological & Chemical Sciences (module code FX3003), and for undergraduate L4 students* (*by invitation only). It will run for from November 2024 to June 2025.

The skills that you develop by taking part in this activity can be used to start build your Kingston Award reflections on Career Zone.
