This summer Kingston University will be hosting our first ever virtual Book Club. During these unique online events, you will be able to hear a wide variety of Kingston staff members relate their fields of expertise to specific chapters from Airhead, by Newsnight host Emily Maitlis. These talks will be held weekly from 8 July 2020 -16 September 2020. This is a great opportunity to connect with your new KU community before you arrive on campus. There are two sides to every coin, but how many to human identity? What do we share, and with whom?
The fourth Big Read Book Club talk will be focusing on the chapters titled Stuck in a Lift with Alan Partridge (p.320); Simon Cowell: The Vampire Hour (p.126); Piers Morgan becomes a Feminist (p.153).
This week, Professor Will Brooker will explore public and private identity, and how they are affected by the phenomenon of ‘celebrity'. The Steve Coogan / Alan Partridge chapter will be the main focus, with supporting points from the chapters on Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan.
