Taking your first steps towards learning a new language? Welcome to our Survival Language courses for beginners. Our Survival Language courses are the perfect starting point when you just know a few words or have no prior experience.

These four-week courses introduce basic grammar, essential frequent vocabulary, and key aspects of pronunciation. They provide a platform to gain basic linguistic skills for everyday life communication. There is an emphasis on speaking and listening for the gist of a short conversation, but you will also acquire relevant cultural information.

Week one: Small talk

This week will explore essential phrases for small talk, using excerpts from K-drama. Through a series of typical topics for a chat and role-playing, participants will learn how to introduce themselves and initiate a conversation with Koreans.

Week two: Food

The second session focus on food, the most exciting thing to do and a topic to chat about in Korea. Participants will learn the names of typical Korean dishes alongside their taste and ingredients. The week aims to produce a set of dialogue for dine-in, take away and delivery situation.

Week three: Shopping

In the third session we will learn how to create a simple dialogue through shopping expressions. Using a range of vocabularies for fashion and grocery shopping, participants will practice essential speeches that are most used in famous shopping streets such as Dongdaemoon and Myungdong.

Week four: Transportation


The last session will explore different types of transportation and what to say when using them in Korea. We will practice basic phrases to buy tickets and ask for directions by looking at the map of Seoul. To conclude the course, we will do an extended length role-playing with a script written by participants.
