As you may know, the KU Big Read is now in its tenth year. As we finalise what promises to be a very exciting shortlist, we are reaching out to ask you to take part in this year’s selection panel – to decide which of the six titles should be our tenth Big Read book.

If you’d like to get involved as part, we would like to remind you of our criteria, which are attached. The process involves considering all six of our shortlisted titles with a view to thinking about which would make the best choice for our audience, which is primarily 18-25-year-olds joining the university as undergraduates.

You don’t have to read all of them in full (although obviously that’s preferable) but enough to form an opinion on how each book looks, what you liked and disliked about it and how likely it is to appeal to our audience – and be prepared to share these thoughts at our two selection panel meetings. Everyone who takes part in the panel will receive copies of the books to keep.

There will be two meetings:

 Wednesday 10th April 5-6.30pm, Penrhyn Campus, JG5014

Wednesday 24th April 5-6.30pm, Penrhyn Campus, JG5014

If you would like to take part in a the Big Read selection panel, please reply to this email or contact the Big Read Administrative Assistant, Cameron Wade (c.wade@kingston.ac.uk). Please tell us where you would like the books to be sent.

The skills you develop by taking part in this activity can be used to build your Kingston Award reflections on Career Zone.  Find out more by watching  our Kingston Award video, visiting our Kingston Award webpages or getting in touch with us.
